Travel information

The symposium will be held in Budapest (at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics), capital of Hungary, which has an optimal geographical central location in Europe and accessibility by plane (airport Budapest Ferihegy), by train (3 hours trip from Vienna) or by car.

Location of the symposium

The symposium is organized by the Department of Applied Mechanics, Budapest University of Technology and Economics and will be held at Hotel Gellért, which is just next to the university (see Google maps)

Travelling from the airport to the city

Airport Minibus

Airport Minibus is a kind of collective taxi at a reasonable price, which runs 8-seater mini buses between any requested destination in town and the airport terminals. These buses collect people from any place from the city and they can go any places from the airport. On arrival at the airport, you should go to the Airport Minibus Counter, and you can also book your return trip. The fare between the Airport and the city is 2990 HUF (return ticket is 4990 HUF).

Taxi

The fastest and easiest way. You can find the kiosk of Zóna Taxi at the exit of the terminals. This company is the sole taxi company that operates at the airport. The fixed price tariff from the airport to Budapest University of Technology and Economics (Zone #3) is 5000 HUF.
From the university to the airport the price is 4000 HUF.

Train

Since July of 2007 passengers can easily reach the Western Railway Station in Budapest from Ferihegy Terminal 1. Travellers who would like to get to Budapest from Ferihegy 2A or 2B terminals can travel by bus 200E to Ferihegy 1. Arriving travellers can buy their tickets at Tourinform at Terminal 1 from 09.00 to 22.00 or at platform B at the railway station from the ticket vending mashine. Public transport

Budapest Airport is relatively well accessible also by Public Transportation means. Passengers are taken by a direct bus service from Terminals 1 and 2, called the Bus 200E to Köbánya-Kispest metro terminal. However, we do not suggest this transportation because you should change the transport means (to another bus, or tram or metro) which takes a lot of time and it is very tiring; but this is the cheapest way.
